Subject: Financing sources for education
Result: printed in Business section

Dear Editor,

Pauline Hill suggested in a letter to the editor of the business section
that pet food and supplies, and I guess the cost of the animals
themselves, should be taxed as luxury items, with the proceeds going to
education.

Heck, if you do that, the next thing you know, somebody is going to be
saying aren't children themselves just cute little luxuries? Why not
put a tax on them? We could take the tax deduction that people get for
their children and apply it directly to education. That would fix that
problem.

Thank you, John Vehon
