Dear Editor,
I have an idea. Let's keep the Wright Amendment, thereby protecting our public investment in DFW Airport, but make a rule that airlines flying out of DFW have to charge the same prices flying from here to there that they charge to fly from there to here. We should not have to pay 2 or 3 times more to travel to a city than people traveling from the same city have to pay to come here.
The fact is, I would be willing to shut down Love Field, or keep it just for private planes, and tell Southwest that if they want to fly out of Dallas, they can use DFW. We've offered them generous incentives. Take it or leave it.
Thank you, John Vehonauthor's note: people talk about closing Love Field all the time now, but I was the first one I heard with the suggestion
